Mostly we will be following well known bike routes mapped by the Adventure Cycling Association (ACA). We’ll start out following the Lewis and Clark Trail, crossing Oregon, riding briefly into Washington, and then into Idaho and Montana. In Missoula we’ll pick up the Northern Tier route into North Dakota, Minnesota, a bit of Iowa, then Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, Pennsylvania into New York. From the Buffalo area we’ll cross New York State on NY Bicycle Route #5 to the Massachusetts border at Pittsfield. We’ll ride along Mass. Route 9 to our hometown of Amherst, where hopefully we’ll arrive with enough time to sleep in our own beds for a couple of nights before making the 33-mile ride to the starting line of the PMC in Sturbridge. From there, it’s just two days and 192 very familiar miles to our ultimate destination, Provincetown on Cape Cod.
Wish us luck (we’re pretty sure we’ll need it)! And if our route brings us through your town, come on out—we’d love to meet you!
